About Scruffline

Everyone else treats your dog like an oil painting.

The custom pet art business has spent a decade being reverent about it. Renaissance costumes. Gold frames. Museum-quality this, hand-illustrated that. You pay first, then wait a day or two while somebody emails you a proof. One of them charges ten dollars to see it sooner.

We thought that was mad.

So we built it the other way round.

You upload a photo. About a minute later there is a drawing of your actual animal on the screen — not a template with their face pasted in, not a filter, a drawing. Free. Before you have decided anything at all.

If it is not right, draw it again. Try a different style. Close the tab. We would rather that than take your money and hope.

The drawing is the whole job

Anyone can make a pretty picture of a dog. The difficult part is making a picture of your dog — the blaze that runs off-centre, the one ear that folds, the white toe on the back foot, the grey coming in around the muzzle. Those are the things you check first, so those are the things we build the whole process around. A plain animal drawn faithfully beats a handsome one every time.

And yes, it's AI

We are not going to be coy about that. The art is generated — by a model we have spent a very long time teaching to copy your specific animal rather than idealise it, and to stop before it starts inventing.

The rest of the category markets hard on not using it. Fine. But they are really selling you a promise that it will turn out well. We are selling you the finished thing, up front, before you spend a penny. We think that is the better deal, and it is the one you can actually check.

Made for the fridge, not the vault

Blankets, hoodies, mugs, socks, stickers. Things that get used, washed, spilled on and used again. Not a thing you are frightened to touch.
